The market is finally ready for a 100% Cabernet Franc! The beauty of this grape is it takes on the characteristics of the territory it is grown in. While we may be accustomed to Cabernet Franc from California or France, the production coming out of North Eastern Italy creates a whole other experience.

This certified organic Cabernet Franc from Castelvecchio is highly elegant and deliciously drinkable. The initial famous ruby color melts with time into silken aristocratic reflections. The bouquet maintains the herbaceous fragrance of the wooden barrel even in the bottle. The taste is generous, velvety, and spicy.

Grape variety: 100% Cabernet Franc
Harvesting: First half of October
Fermentation and refinery: Fermentation with maceration in stainless steel for approximately 15 days. After the first 4 months in stainless steel to complete the malolactic fermentation, the wine is left for a year in small French and Californian oak barrels (barriques). Followed by a year in barrique in larger Slavonian and French oak barrels (tonneau). The wine ages in the bottle for a further six months before being released on the market.
Alcohol: 13.0%
Temperature for serving: 18-20°C
Tasting notes: Ruby red with aristocratic almost silky reflexes. The bouquet maintains a certain herbaceous fragrance accentuated by the wooden permanence that gives a spicy note. There is also a pleasant mineral note indicative of the Karst terroir. On the palate, it is full, velvety, and spicy with long persistence.
Serving Suggestions: It pairs excellently with roasted white meat, grilled meats, and game.

Celtico (2013)

A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, Rosso Celtico is a new take on a classic. A full-bodied wine with sweet tannins and plenty of extract to balance out the whole structure. It is juicy and rich with a surprising lush style.

In a region famous for its whites, Michele Moschioni has been daring enough for the past 40 years to only make reds. A pupil of the godfather of Amarone, Giuseppe Quintarelli, Moschioni's red wines are legendary.

Harvesting: Manual harvest from mid to late September.
Fermentation and refinery: Ages for 12 months in barriques, then 48 months in large French oak barrels, followed by 12 months of bottle aging.

Tasting notes: Dark and bright ruby red in the glass. Very wide nose of berries, chocolate cherry, violets and a mild spicy note of star anise. Afterwards it displays fully developed aromas of leather, sealing wax, Kentucky tobacco and black coffee. On the palate it is full-bodied with sweet tannins and plenty of extract to balance out the whole structure. Juicy, rich, and lush.
Serving Suggestions: You can pair it with well-structured first dishes, red meat and stewed mushrooms.

Fermentation and refinery: Crushing and de-stemming, soft crushing. Must cooled at 12°C. Static settling for 36 hours. Fermentation in steel at 18-20°C controlled temperature. A percentage is vinified in wood followed by batonnage for 9-12 months, which adds a light vanilla-like note. After bottling it ages for another 9-12 months before being released.
Alcohol: 13.0%
Temperature for serving: 10°C
Tasting notes: Bright straw yellow color. Delicate on the nose, with lingering hints of ripe tropical fruit and bread crust. Typically broad and velvety, with lingering aroma.
Serving Suggestions: Suitable throughout a meal, it goes well with highly flavored starters, elaborate main courses with rich sauces and condiments, and cheeses.

Friulano (2021)

After Italy's loss of a lawsuit, "Friulano" became the new name of "Tocai", a wine produced usually in a sweet form in Hungary. This varietal, native to the area of the Austro-Hungarian Empire crossing into the borders of what is now Friuli is dry and delicate with slight undertones of wildflowers and almonds and good structure.

This Friulano by Ronc dai Luchis is an excellent introduction to the grape if you are not already familiar. Fine and delicate with a delightful aroma of wildflowers and nuts, you won't miss the typical almond note we've come to love with Friulano.

Fermentation and refinery: De-stemmed, then softly pressed and aged in stainless steel for 5 months, where there is contact with the lees for texture.

Friulano Amphora (2019)

A fantastic and unique orange wine that is a must-have for your cellar! This skin-contact Friulano has been aged in terracotta amphora for around one year, an old-world technique that gives this wine a great complexity while maintaining moderate acidity, freshness and fruit. If you're unsure about orange wine, give Friulano Amphora a try.

Harvesting: By hand in September
Fermentation and refinery: De-stemming and maceration of the skins with the must for 38 days in terracotta amphora. Soft pressing and subsequent decanting of the must in tank stainless steel. At the end of the decanting, the must is put back in amphora. The wine will then remain for about 8-9 months in amphora. Bottling will follow and then a period of bottle aging for at least one year before selling.

Temperature for serving: 10-12°C
Tasting notes: Intense straw yellow in color with light green reflections. The nose hints of apple and white flowers. The taste is dry, fruity and with moderate acidity.
Serving Suggestions: Pairs well with cured meats, asparagus, main meat courses with herbs, baked shellfish flavored with herbs (thyme, oregano, marjoram) and grilled or roasted white meats.

The Malvasia by Il Carpino is a well-structured and full-bodied orange wine. Aromatic Malvasia grapes are vinified like a red wine with long maceration and aged in oak. Artisan production philosophy: No added sulfites, maceration on the grape peels, indigenous yeasts.

Fermentation and refinery: De-stemming and crushing of the grapes, maceration with the must in cement tanks for several days with frequent pump-overs. The wine is filtered and bottled the following July, then a long period of bottle aging follows.

Tasting notes: Ruby red in color. Aromatic hints of red fruit, full and fragrant. Flavorful, mineral-rich and dry with heavy tannins.
