Schioppettino, also called "ribolla nera" has been around since the 13th century in Friuli. Saved from the brink of extinction, it came back to light in the 1970s. The Prepotto area of Friuli is the most famous area for this peppery red varietal, and this 2017 vintage was given a score of 91 by Vinous Antonio Galloni.
